Suspended magnetic separators
This type of permanent magnetic separation systems is designed for suspension or installation above a belt conveyor to remove ferrous contaminants from conveyed bulk materials.

Suspended plates
 AMT&C manufactures the PSM series of suspended magnetic separators (overhead separators, suspended plates) designated according to the conveyor belt width and extraction depth, which is primarily determined by the conveyor trough depth and the height of the conveyed bulk material. For choosing an appropriate model, the important parameters are also the specifications of the processed material and the conveyor belt speed.
The PSM suspended plates are basically used in those conveying applications where the amount of tramp metal is not large. These are manual cleaning separators - the working surface of the separator is outfitted with a sliding face-plate.

Cross-belt separators
For continuous operation and for removing larger amounts of tramp iron or heavy-weight metal objects, self-cleaning separators are required. The PSMA series of cross-belt self-cleaning separators incorporate a stainless steel frame, two pulleys with a NdFeB magnetic pack between them, and a motor-reducer. As the rubber belt is driven around the frame, iron contaminants are attracted to the belt face, carried over and out of the magnetic field until they are automatically discharged into a bin. Optional: the motor can be supplemented with a frequency converter to vary the belt speed.
Depending on a particular location, these cross-belt self-cleaning separators can either be suspended over a conveyor belt through eyebolts or mounted on supports.
